Default Unusual Engine Noise - Nissan Altima '02 2.5s

Whenever I accelerate from stop, there is a noise kind of like 'bitting on plastic' but at higher speeds (30 mph +) apparently there is no noise from the engine.

Please advice on possible solution.

Until a Specialist replies...You might jump over to Knowledgebase - 2002 Altima - Nissanhelp.com and take a look at NTB02-030 - 2002 NISSAN ALTIMA; WHEEL COVER SQUEAK/CLICK NOISE If the wheel cover(s) of a 2002 Altima makes a squeak or click noise once per wheel revolution, the cause may be: Contact between the clip portion of the factory wheel weight and the outer edge of the cover.

I agree with vpnavy, you should check the wheel cover. I higher speed the air flow makes the cover make a flapping noise that it seem that comes from the engine.

Look for broken little post on the inside of the wheel cover. If so take a small piece of rubber tubing and slip over the remaining plastic post and reinstall the cover. Been there, done that, more than once.
