2001 Altima SE Fuel Economy
Well I drove from Norman, OK to Dallas, TX and back yesterday. 340.1 miles round trip. Filled up the gas tank and did the math. 22 MPG... Shouldnt I be getting better? I would say that 95% of the trip the cruise control was on 73 mph. All I did was drop a guy off there and turn around and came back. Not joking when I say that 95% of the miles was driven at 73 mph locked into the cruise control. Its a 2001 Altima SE with 109,000 miles. Runs great. Amy thoughts. I figured I would be getting better fuel economy.

I found that both on my '05 auto and '07 CVT my mileage was 3 to 4 mpg better at 65 than at 70. Still, even with a bigger engine, I would think you would do better than you are getting.

In my opinion 22 mpg is about correct for your 01 Altima.

WOW ! I figured the ole 4 banger would do a lot better. Thats kinda a grappy engine then. I realize the window stickers dont mean much on this but I did find mine from when I purchased the car new. it was showing 29 highway and like 21 city. They are way off, but like I said that under perfect conditions. WHat makes this feel worse is that I made the same trip again Saturday with a friend in his 2006 Corvett. At 80 MPH he got 26 mpg. Really made me feel like crap.

That sounds closer to what I was thinking... I think I will look into this matter.
