Default Service Engine Soon Light problem - how to reset??

Mine is 98 Nissan altima. Recently started throwing SES light. I pulled the codes at Autozone and they are:
P0446 - Malfunction in electrical circuit for the vent control in the
evaporative emission control system.
P0325 - Malfunction in electrical circuit for knock sensor 1.

I am not sure about the first one.
When talked to Midas about replacing knock sensor they suggested to clear the code once and see if it comes back. Because according them 98 altima vehicles have some proble and throws this code eventhough knock sensor is not really bad. So I am trying to clear the code. I tried pulling the two ECM fuses. But it didn't work. I don't think even disconnecting the battery may work. Please suggest any other ways to clear the codes. I also tried pressing gas pedal in some sequence (like press five times within 5sec and .....), but no luck. Please suggest how to proceed. I appreciate your help.

The vent control valve may have become stuck, a common problem with that model. You can down load how to test it within this site. As for the knock sensor,I would just clear the code from history and wait to see if it returns. It's no big worry

Suggest you check with Autozone or other parts distributor to see if you can use their code reader (and clear the codes). Failing that, you may locate a friend that has a code reader, or buy one for ~$40.00. It's a tool and will last for years. If you have some cash, you may consider buying a code scanner or a laptop based diagnostic tool that uses a laptop. You can buy these for about $175 - $200 and they will do so much more than a simple code reader. At least check them out.
