U100 & U1001 DTC codes
Could anyone help out. I just bought a 2003 Altima less than a week ago. I am showing these codes and I don't have any idea what it is. At first I was showing some other codes also and I bought a new gas cap and that helped take those codes off. Now I have my check engine light on with U1000 and U1001. Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks! |

The U1000 and U1001 mean that there is no communication between the engine control unit and another control units that are part of the CAN system (Controller Area Network) or that at some point there was no communication. Before do any repairs with the U1000 and U1001 codes, the factory recommend repairing any other problems in the car. What are the other codes that you had?
Also, make sure the battery charge is correct and the ECM connector is install correctly.

other codes
The other code that was showing was P0455. It came up three times along with the U1000 & U1001. I then put the new gas cap on and he ran the codes again and then the U1000 & U1001 was the only thing that showed up. After he ran these code again he tried to clear it so the check engine light would go off. It went off for about 10 seconds then came right back on. That was on Saturday. It is still on and it's Wed.
My husband also tried to take off the battery cables for 10 seconds and then reconnect them to see if that would take it off but that didn't work either. :( If you have any other information...please let me know. It is greatly appreciated. Thanks--- |

The ECM (engine control mudule) connector is the part that connects the ECM to all the wires going to the sensor and other control units.
Check this bulletin, is for another problem but it shows you how resecure the connector: http://www.nissanhelp.com/Ownership/...NTB02-002-.htm Now if the the connector is OK, more test with the Nissan consult (nissan computer) will need to be perform. |

new message
I carried my car back to auto zone for them to check the codes again. This time the codes didn't come up. The message link connector or linkage connector came up. No codes. The guy said it was something electrical. Do you have any ideas as to what this means? And why is it changing everytime I carry it to get it checked. Also, when I changed the gas cap I put a aftermarket gas cap on there. Would that be causing the problem? Do I have to put a factory gas cap back on?
thanks again for all your help. |

2002 altima, ruff noise when first start car
I had bought my 2002 Altima in APr of 02. Since oct 02 I have had rough sounds when I started my car in the moring. Now I get it after my car has been sitting for about four hours. The noise is embarassing. The dealers try to say that they don't hear it but I do so does other people. I had asked another automotive worker, and he says it sounds like the valves in the engine.
