2002 Altima Cruise Control
We have added another Altima to our household, and this one happens to be an '02 2.5SL. Car is in great shape and running soundly, but the cruise control will not function properly. The 'CRUISE' light comes on, but when the 'SET' light comes on, all it does is blink, and does not set the vehicle speed. Any ideas?

The most common problem with the cruise control is the "ASCD Brake Switch" or the "Stop Light Switch" Both switches are located next to the brake pedal. Does the stop light comes ON when you press the brake pedal? If the light comes ON, then the "Stop Light Switch" is OK and you can start by replacing the "ASCD Brake Switch". The part is around $20 and is very simple to replaced.

Thanks for the reply. All of the stop lights are working fine. On a hunch, I checked the car for DTC's, and although the SES light has not been on, I did get P1564 from the memory. I am taking the car for a test drive now to see if clearing the code helped... Any suggestions on that particular code? I know that it supposedly has to do with the switch on the steering wheel itself.
