Do I need to replace the timing chain?
2005 Altima with the 2.4. Is there a replacement interval for the timing chain. It is not causing any problems. In the older chevrolets, we replaced the timing assembly when there was a problem. Is that the case with the nissan?
Thanks, Rick |

You don't have a timing chain.

Could you expand on that? If I don't have a timing chain, what do I have. Maintenance books make no reference to a timing belt. Is it gear to gear with no maintenance required?
Thanks, Rick |

The 2005 altima has a 2.5l engine and yes it does have a timing chain. There is no maintenance interval for the chain.

That should have read 1995 not 2005 altima
We have a 2007 and a 1995. I am referring to the older one.
