Default Engine Rattling Noise (Sounds like a chain dragging)

Please help!!! I have a 2005 Altima (5 speed transmission) and when I am close to shifting speed (or pulling up on speed) in each gear it sounds like a chain rattling or dragging. I still have power trans warranty but my dealer acts as if I am an idiot when I come in and explain my issue. Does anyone else have this problem????:taz:

Until a Specialist replies...

Are you using the right octane? Rattling chain noise could be fuel detonation.

I agree with vpnavy, the noise you hear is possible a pinging/pre-detonation noise.

You should check the transmission fluid condition and level anyway to make sure the trans is OK.

Do you use high octane gas? using higher octane gas can reduce the pinging noise.

Talking Rattling Noise

Thanks...I have tried higher octaine but honestly I didn't think a 4 cylinder required a higher octaine than 89 (and with the price of gas these days...mama can't afford too much higher!!) Anyway, I will certainly check my transmission fluid to make sure it isn't that.
Thanks for the info...I love this easy access to info stuff!!!:stuart:
