Exclamation Anti-Theft system No Start Issue

My 2001 Nissan Altima's key will not turn in the ignition. It's the only key I've received from the dealer, and it has worked for nearly two years. Unfortunately this isn't the first time. However, previously I was able to jiggle the steering wheel and manage to get the key to turn in the ignition. It hadn't been a problem for a while now, so I thought nothing of it, until suddenly even turning the wheel wouldn't get the key to work. I've lowered my wheel, raised it, and eventually ended up locking the wheel to one side before consenting I was doomed and had it towed (which screwed up my alignment as described later on) to my house from where I was stuck. I called the dealership and they said, apparently this is a common problem, and that I would have to bring the car in and pay $150 diagnostic fee (ouch!). They also, though, said that it was because the wheel was locked that it was having the problem in the first place... which I pointed out wasn't the case. I locked the wheel after the having the issue of the key not turning.
I'm very confused, and really would like any advice on this issue. I thought my key may have been dead, because it has the chip in it, but my key can't be opened up to change a battery. I've tried disconnecting my own battery in an attempt for it to restart the anti-theft system. No luck. I've been w/out my car for a couple of weeks now, and really am at my wits end. The only reason I haven't towed it yet to the dealership is because I have to take the brakes off of my front tires as I cannot put my car into neutral. (The tires are locked up as the car is in park, and cannot be placed in neutral as the ignition is stuck in the locked position.)
Sorry, I'm long-winded, but I've been racking my brain for something I can do for my car, and I'm starting to REALLY hate passive disabling devices.
Any help will be useful!!

Searching through previous forums, it was mentioned that the problem might be an ignition switch. I'm buying the part now on e-bay and will receive it this week. Ill post if it works or not. I'll gladly hear any other suggestions though, just in case this might not work! :)

Are you buying the ignition lock (the mechanism where the key is inserted and controls the locking system)? or just the ignition switch (the electrical part that sends the electrical signal to the starter to start)?

Because the key is not turning, you most likely have a problem with the ignition lock and not the ignition switch. For the ignition switch to work, the ignition lock needs no to working OK.

I bought the ignition lock. Replaced the old one, and now it turns again (yay!). Now, the only problem we have is that in the process of disconnecting some of the wiring from the steering column, we unplugged one and don't remember where it plugs in! We got all the rest of the wiring, except one little black plug that starts from underneath the steering column. Which, admittingly, the diagram only specified a few wires to be unplugged, but we ran into a few complications with the screws. We didn't want any wires that were plugged in to get ripped out in our efforts to remove them. Now I'm curious to find any diagrams of the wiring for the steering column. I already checked the user manual, but, alas, no luck so far. Any help?

I found out what the wire was for, but I still have no idea where it connects inside the steering column. The wire (which is one black wire and one green & orange wire) is for my horn. Anybody know where the horn wire connects into the steering column? (Any pictures would be helpful!) Thank you!!
