2002 Altima: door chimes (key in, and lights on
I am new here.
INFO: I have a 2002 Nissan Altima and a 2008 Sentra. The Altima, we just bought. Great car, with a few little things I want/need to work out. With the engine off, and the door open, I don't get either the warning chime if the key is still in the ignition, and/or the warning chime if I leave the lights on... for obvious reasons, this could be an issue if exiting the car with a lot on my (our) mind(s). Also, while I'm thinking of it, I notice that, even with a brand new battery, it takes very little, and a very short time to create a weak start even only a short time after shutting the car off... for examples: if something relatively minor is left on, or we leave our DC/AC Inverter plugged into the cig lighter (even if nothing plugged into it to charge). |

If you're doing your own diagnostics and with a volt meter or multi-meter. While engine at idle turn your heater on high, headlights, turn signal, radio, fog lights if equipped. With your volt meter, take a voltage reading. Your voltage should be around 14.5 volts. If under 14v have your Alternator tested. I suspect the alternator has reach its life cycle.

I would check the ground cable that goes from the battery to the unibody, then from the unibody to thee transmission. It is under the air box. Very common.
Could also be a weak starter, bad battery, or bad connections. Have that battery tested |
