1. All Altimas subject to the first recall came out of the Canton, MS plant. I'm not sure if all the owners who are posting for noise problem have all their cars made from Canton plant. I don't know if it has any relation but the Auto Workers Union is trying to organize the workers there. I don't know if it will come to a vote. The Smyrna, TN workers had rejected the union a long time ago with something like 2-1 votes in favor not to unionize.
2. It has also been widely reported that Nissan is bringing in contract workers at about 1/2 the wages of current workers. These workers are not employees of Nissan but of the contractor. I don't know where they come from nor do I know their skills level. If I were buying an Altima I woud avoid buying one made from the Canton plant. My '02 Altima was made in Smyrna, TN plant. Your VIN # can tell you the plant it was made of. |

Thank you "raidtariq" for sharing your wonderful experience with corporate Nissan. Now that you are some sort of advocate for Nissan, maybe you can talk to Nissan in helping out those owners who have suffered, inconvenient, frustrated, and angry, etc., etc., for getting the run around with their Altima issues. They will forever be grateful to Nissan. Also for Transparency, please tell us you are not a Nissan employee.

Whether Toyota has that many recalls or not, the problems we're having are with Nissans. I can only assume that you may be a Nissan employee. I have reached out to Nissan and have filed with BBB and our General attorney office in MD for these issues and to this day, Nissan insists that the noises I hear in the vehicle are normal and therefore aren't getting fixed. This argument has gotten all the way to the arbitration specialist who relied on a regional technician who barely looked at the car and concluded that the sounds are not of issues. The tech was supposed to do more diagnosis but ended up doing absolutely nothing. Instead he test drove other Nissan Altimas, without my presence of course, to see if the same noises exist and according to him, they all made the same noises. Right? Easier said.. My car clearly has a defective anti slosh baffle or whatever it is in that tank. IT IS obnoxiously loud and disturbing. Besides fuel slosh, there seems to be metal banging in there or something that's broken. I am researching on how to file a lawsuit on this if it all possible. Nissan is a such a big disappointment esp having been a loyal customer for 20 years and have owned 5 Nissans. I didn't pay this much esp in this economy for a vehicle that has absolutely made me miserable. It's a sad case and if I can prevent consumers from buying this awful car, then I would gladly warn them ahead of time...

I never complain in anywhere except on Nissan's home page on the first time. When I felt they're not going to solve my problem, I began to think "positively" about how can I solve it in my way! At the end I came with a solution in a way that makes me happy and makes Nissan happy as well. Turn your suffered --> successful, inconvenient --> to confident, frustrated --> to satisfied, and angry --> to happy Thanks again;[/QUOTE] Ahhhh.....The Power of Positive Thinking. I have almost forgotten about that. You must have taken Tony Robbins seminar. Or have read How To Win Friends and Influence People - by Dale Carnegie. This forum is about members helping members find solutions. Soooooo...... And your solution in getting Nissan to replace your defective 2013 Altima with a higher model than your original vehicle for no extra charge is or was...............drum roll, please................... |

YES, as I expect:

First off you can't love a machine since a machine doesn't know what love really is. Second i totally go with what bennyb53 has stated above due to many factors i have noticed from him on the forum. Lastly, just because you haven't experienced these issues with your new vehicle doesn't mean you are correct on your statements, but it would be nice if you could have came up with a resolution for these particular issues instead of throwing different manufactures and equations in the mix.

"raidtariq" You've been driving a Nissan for like 6 months and I've been doing it for over 22 years on my second Nissan.
Contrary to your statement that I don't respect other people's opinion. I can tell you I may not like you or I may not like and agree what you say but I will defend your right to speak. It is shocking that you've deleted your empty ramblings of how you got Nissan to replace your defective 2013 Altima and in fact Nissan gave you a higher model at no extra charge. Now I encourage you to PM the members that have issues with their 2013 Altimas. Offer them advise in how to deal with corporate Nissan. If you can help get Nissan to replace their cars, man you'd be a hero. They are not looking to get the higher model just the same model and equipment and I'm sure they will be in cloud 9. If you can do that I can promise you Nissan and them will be like BFFs. So go ahead be the go to guy between them and Nissan. |

You can contact your Nissan dealer, give them your VIN# and have them check for any open campaigns or recalls for your vehicle. You can also call Nissan customer service hotline @ 1-800-NISSAN-1 and they can check for you, as well.

2013 troubles
Hello,
I'm glad i found this thread. I bought a used 2013 Altima SV from a dealer with 3300 miles on it in Dec. It was perfect until around 5k. 1.The steering whining noise is horrid and it whines for a few seconds after the engine is shut off. I 'm hoping for a recall on this but will try what Aenergy recommended. 2. Light pedal acceleration (rpm 1500-2000) the vehicle shudders and engine rumbles. This also occurs at higher speeds when trying to increase speed lightly or when using cruise control. After several visits to a local Nissan dealership. They found a technical bulletin (not sure) and told me it was the engine belt. It took 3 weeks to get the belt in and for about 1k, all was functioning perfectly. Unfortunately, it's back!! It seems there is a design issue here. (Acoustic58 mentioned this) The more miles, the worse it gets. 3. Smell of burning plastic all the time. I am guessing it to be the engine belt. The belt must be wearing down. 4. City gas milage avg. is 19. I am assuming the engine belt might be causing efficiency issues as well. Anyone have similar issues? 5. Navigation/Bluetooth lock ups. this happens randomly. This can be great vehicle and a great value. I'm not sure if anyone out there has any ideas or solutions . I'm thinking of trading it in for a new one, i'm just not sure if these issues are still there on the newer production batches. Also, i use a vent mount for my iPhone, when using bluetooth for music and calls, i would get interference. It seems that having the phone that close to the navi bluetooth causes interference, once i move it farther away from the dash, it functions perfectly. Thanks for the information bennyb53. What is the letter code for the 2013 canton units? my last 8 digits are DC116779 |
