08 altima lack of power
Anyone have an o8 altima.Wife has this yr car.recently has had lack of power.Engine wines alot, especially with ac on.I heard from other nissan sites or reps that it could be this tranny.I drove it,it seems to wine or hesitate when you are trying to get going. It does wine or rev up when you are going down a hill and that is normal I heard.I heard nissan was giving 100k warranty on this yr tranny, but how do you know when this is going to fail, have 38k miles on it?Should we take it to dealer? We did call dealer and rep said it should have some kind of warning light on which it doesn't.never had tranny serviced yet, says 50k mls reccomended.

The bearings and races become pitted on the reduction gear in these transmissions. That is what causes the whining noise. It will not cause any lights to come on. There is a repair kit and a TSB from Nissan for this particular issue. The warranty was extended to 120,000 miles.

tranny problem
Dear Nissan Tech; Can we take the car in to get it fixed or do we have to wait for it to fail?we called dealer service rep awhile back,he said for the tranny to have a problem there should be a warning light on,or there is nothing wrong with it according to him.It only has 38k mls.Should we get something in writing from them or nissan,Thanks
