Question Transmission Problem, 3 times at dealer...no fix!

Hi,
I've checked the posts but I couldn't find anything that seemed similar. I'm having some serious problems with my Altima. I've been to the dealer 3 times with the same problem and I still don't have a fix. I'm ready to give up. If someone can figure this out, you'll get a gold star!

I'll try to be as specific as possible.

#1. Problem started a couple of months ago. The Service Engine Soon light was on. When it was cold (winter in PA) the gear indicator lights (P, R, D, etc.) on the dash would not light up. Once the car warmed up for a bit the lights would come on. If you tried to drive the car with the lights off (gear indicator "D" light not illuminated) the car would slip between 2nd and 3rd.

#2 Took car to dealer. Pulled codes U1001 and U1000. Cleaned all the ground connections, etc. Turned off SES light. Car worked fine when I picked it up, but that was most likely because the car had warmed up (from the sun). It did the same thing the next morning.

#3. Car still having same problems on intitial start as in #1. In addition, on subsequent starts car has a clicking noise on left driver side. Gear indicator lights are not illuminated. Addtionally, car pulls and jerks when put into drive. Once car starts to warm up, the gear indicator lights blink. When the lights come on, the car drives fine. If the car is warm or the weather is hot, the car works fine.

#4. Took car to dealer. Checked codes (misfired 1st piston, catalytic convertor) Said those things were most likely ok, something electrical must be wrong. Turned off SES light, and said drive it and then bring it back to check codes again. Light came back on the next day...grrrrr!

#5. Car still having same problems as in #3. Took car back to dealer. Ran diagnostic again. U1001 and U1000 AGAIN! Said they have to start checking wires. Could cost a couple of hundred dollars or a couple of thousand. I'm betting the latter!

I hit a deer in my car a couple of months ago (left side front). No external damage but I'm wondering if its connected. It didn't start right after I hit the deer, but a couple of months later.

Whew...Any thoughts???

Check the connections at the ipdm (the under hood fuse box on the passenger side) Unplug and then reconnect the connectors.

Did the connector trick work. Ive done everything to this thing. Getting the same clicking it comes from the black box on the side of the transmission where the shifter cable hooks on to. Can these be replaced?
