Default Price to replace rear axle on a 1994 altima?

Well my rear axle is bent, and Ive been told its a ton of money to fix. The tow truck guy said the car is probably totaled because the repair is worth more than the car now. Im just mad, because the only thing wrong is the rear axle, the car runs perfectly otherwise. How much would it cost to replace/fix. Btw car is 1994 nissan altima.

Thanks in advance for any help

Do you know exactly what part of the rear suspension is bent? Is it the rear cross member? there is drive shaft or what we common call axle on your 1994 Altima.

How did that happen!? Maybe we don't need to know...

Can you post up a picture of the damage?
