ran over a gallon of milk
with my 03' altima. I did not bother to remove it (it was night time and raining). I could smell the burnt plastic and then about 4 miles later the gallon finally made it's way out.
When I hit the brake pedel at 10mph or under, a clicking sounds is heard in the shifter (it's automatic). Above 10mph it does not make a clicking sound when I tap the brake pedal. If I put it in park, it clicks everytime I press the brake pedal. so annoying. what could this be? I did notice melted plastic on the exhaust pipes on the underside. Thanks in advance, ~jvmagic |

It is normal to have a click around the shifter area under the conditions you describe. There is solenoid that releases the shifter the brake pedal is depress.

It is very difficult to diagnose a noise problem from here. If you believe that the noise was not there before you ran over the gallon of milk, I suggest lifting the vehicle and inspect for any damages that the object have cause to the vehicle.
