Long crank time. Please help
I have a 2004 Altima 2.5s. If the car sits from 5 to 60 minutes it cranks for about 6 seconds before it starts, but if it sits 1 hr or longer it will start fine. I don't think it's the fuel pressure regulator because it would always have a long crank. Also don't think it's the purge valve because I pinched the hose before the valve & I still had the long crank before it would start. Would could be the problem?

Try turning the ign key to "on" and hold a second or two while the Fuel Pump primes. [you should be able to hear it] Then Start.

Any excessive smog after the long crank? it is possible that you have a leaking injector that is flooding the engine. Try connecting a fuel pressure gauge and monitor if the pressure decrease after the engine is turn off. It shouldn't decrease.

I thought about checking the fuel pressure, but I didn't do that because the car starts with out a problem if it sits for about 2 hrs or more. But I will check the pressure it won't hurt. There isn't any smog after the long crank. Thanks .

I checked the cam sensor & there is oil coming out of the pins, so I will replace it. After I replace the cam sensor is there anything else that needs to be done in connection to the cam sensor? I would like to thank you guys for your help.

Did you check the fuel pressure. I still think that one of the injectors may be leaking.

I did check the fuel pressure it was about 51psi, & it also held pressure. One thing that I did notice is that if I press the accelerator pedal about 1/2 way down or less while the engine cranks it does start a lot easier. Any clues? Thanks

A suggestion would be to clean the throttle plate in the throttle body. This may help.
