Default Rough Idle on 2008 COupe

I have had a rough idle on my coupe since after 1 week of ownership (Sept 2). It has been brought to the dealer 5 times and they say that all codes match up. I have even got a case with Nissan North america which is getting me nowhere.

I am very frustrated and wonder if ANYONE else has this problem with the coupe. Other than the idle, everything else is great and I love this car.

I just brought it to an independent Nissan tech and he does acknowledge that the idle is rough and that I need to INSIST that Nissan do something about it. Easier said than done.

HELP!!!

Default Rough Idle on 3.5 coupe

So have you brought it in to Nissan at all and if so, what did they tell you???

At this point, I am taking it into the 3rd different dealership to see if they happen to have a tech that knows what to do. So far all they tell me is, "all of the codes check out'. Well then the car's computer must be bad.

If you replaced the a/f sensor you also have to clear the self learn for the ecm. This is not the same as clearing the codes. I would also suggest doing an idle air volume relearn.

Default Update on rough idle problem

Well I have been told by 3 Nissan dealerships that you can't adjust the idle on this car.

Guess what? I JUST HAD IT DONE by Precision Z a Nissan mechanic that works specifically on Zs AND on NISSAN dealership owners cars (because they don't trust their own mechanics!)

My ROUGH IDLE IS GONE after 5 months of anguish dealing with the dealerships and Nissan NOrth America.

SO don't let them tell you it can't be done!!

Default Rough Idle

I missed your first question about how he did it.

He is a specialist on Zs but also works on all Nissans.

He has the same 8,000.00 laptop (from a manager friend of his at another local Nissan Dealer) computer that all of the Nissan techs use except that he and his partner know how to dig in and adjust things with a little brain power. (been in business since 1980 and his partner has been a tech for over 15 years) AND NIssan is trying to get him to be one of their Independent Mechanics.

He just can't believe that Nissan wouldn't do it for me. He said that they just stick the thing into the dash and if no codes come up, all must be OK. There lies the difference. These techs don't know a WHOLE lot.

So I wouldn't be surprised if you ran into the same response from the stealership.

the idle and timing can be adjusted with the nissan tool but not suppose to tell customers about it doh! but i have in the past adjusted these items when no other problem is present.....by the way is one of the motor mounts broken?

They (Nissan Techs and Precision Z) are all telling me that the motor mounts are fine. I know that WAS one of the possible culprits. Hope they are right!

They said that the timing was off, so they adjusted it. And just like that, the problem was gone.
