-REVISED- 1999-2003 NISSAN FRONTIER, 2000-2003 XTERRA; VOLUNTARY RECALL CAMPAIGN FUEL SENDING UNIT
Nissan has determined that some 1999-2003 model year Nissan Frontier vehicles, equipped with the 6 cylinder engine and 2000-2003 model year Nissan Xterra vehicles, equipped with the 4 and 6 cylinder engine may have a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety. There is a possibility that the fuel pump terminal on the fuel-sending unit may develop a crack in its plastic molding which could cause the terminal strip to corrode under some environmental conditions. If corrosion occurs, the terminal strip could eventually break. This will cause the fuel pump to stop operating and will result in not being able to start the engine or cause the engine to stop running without warning during vehicle operation, which could result in a crash. To prevent this condition from occurring, Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Safety Recall Campaign to replace or repair the fuel-sending unit.

2000-2003 NISSAN XTERRA, FRONTIER; VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN REAR JACKING POINT OWNER’S MANUAL UPDATE
Nissan has identified the need to update Owner’s Manual information for the 2000 through 2003 Frontier and Xterra models related to the rear jacking points for vehicles equipped with 15” factory wheels. Vehicles equipped with 16” factory wheels are not affected.
Nissan is conducting a Service Campaign to update the affected pages in the Owner’s Manual.
Nissan has determined that on some 2001-2003 model year four wheel drive Nissan Frontier and Xterra vehicles, there is a possibility that water may enter the rear axle housing due to inadequate sealing of the ABS sensor in the axle housing. This may result in corrosion and eventual failure of the wheel bearing. If this occurs, the wheel assembly could separate from the vehicle and result in loss of control of the vehicle and a crash. To prevent this condition from occurring, Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Safety Recall Campaign to inspect the rear axle for water entry and replace any necessary parts. Also, the ABS sensor will be resealed to prevent water from entering.

2003 NISSAN FRONTIER; VOLUNTARY RECALL CAMPAIGN SPARE WHEEL
Nissan has determined that an incorrect size spare tire wheel rim was provided in some 2003 model year Nissan Frontier XE model vehicles equipped with a V6 engine. If that wheel rim is then used on the front of the vehicle, it will contact the brake caliper, causing a loud rubbing noise and may result in wear on the caliper and/or wheel rim if driving continues. Continued usage of the spare tire wheel at a front location can also result in loosening of the lug nuts and deterioration in braking performance. This may eventually cause the wheel assembly to separate from the vehicle and result in loss of control and a crash. The spare tire wheel rim fits properly as a replacement for a rear wheel. To prevent this condition from occurring, Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Safety Recall Campaign to replace the spare tire wheel rim with a new one, and remount the spare tire on it.
