2008 NISSAN ALTIMA SEDAN; VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN CVT COOLER HOSE CLAMP
On certain 2008 Altima Sedan vehicles equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), a CVT hose attached to the radiator may not have been clamped correctly. To avoid a potential for a CVT fluid leak and potential subsequent damage to the vehicles transmission, Nissan will inspect the clamp and reposition it, if necessary, free of charge for
parts and labor.
2008 NISSAN ALTIMA SEDAN; VOLUNTARY RECALL CAMPAIGN TRANSVERSE LINK BOLT
On certain 2008 Nissan Altima vehicles, the left side front suspension transverse link bolt may not have been tightened to specification. This condition could cause the bolt to become loose while the vehicle is being driven. If the bolt were to come out, the driver may experience difficulty controlling the direction of the vehicle. To prevent this potential condition, Nissan is conducting this Voluntary Recall Campaign to tighten the transverse link bolt to the specified value at no charge for parts or labor.
2008 NISSAN ALTIMA SEDAN; VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN DRIVE BELT TENSIONER BOLTS
Nissan has determined that on certain 2008 Altima sedans equipped with 2.5-liter engines, the engine accessory drive belt tensioner bolts may not have been torqued to specification. This may affect performance of certain engine accessories, including the air conditioning compressor, alternator, and the water pump. To prevent this potential condition, Nissan is conducting this Voluntary Service Campaign to torque the auto tensioner bolts and if necessary replace the bolts free of charge for parts or labor.
Nissan has determined that on some 2007 – 2008 Altima Sedans and 2008 Altima Coupes equipped with the 2.5 liter four cylinder engines, a rattle noise may occur around the exhaust manifold heat shield during start up or at low engine speeds (approximately 1600 RPM). The symptom does not affect the operation of the engine or the vehicle. To address this issue, Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Service Campaign to install an exhaust stay bracket, and if necessary, also replace the exhaust manifold heat shield.
Nissan has determined that some 2007 and 2008 model Altima vehicles are equipped with an improperly functioning on-board emission-related diagnostic system that violates California standards and regulations. This condition may result in failure of the on-board diagnostic system to warn a driver that the catalytic converter is malfunctioning. To correct
this condition, Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Emissions Recall Campaign to reprogram the Engine Control Module (engine computer). If this repair is not completed, affected vehicles may fail an emission inspection or I/M smog check test.
2007–2008 NISSAN ALTIMA SEDAN, ALTIMA HYBRID, 2008 ALTIMA COUPE; VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN BODY CONTROL MODULE / TPMS
Nissan has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some 2007 and 2008 model year Nissan Altima vehicles. The vehicles affected by this campaign had the Body Control Module (BCM) replaced during service at a Nissan dealership after October 1, 2007 and before November 30, 2007. During that service, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) may have been inadvertently deactivated due to an issue with
the dealer service software. If the TPMS is turned off, it would not alert the driver to a decrease in the tire pressure as designed. Driving on under-inflated tires is unsafe and could result in a crash. To correct this potential condition Nissan is conducting a Voluntary
Safety Recall Campaign to check the TPMS function and reactivate it if necessary.
