1. If you're security light is off when cranking then you have no problem with anti-theft system.
2. The smell of gas means the injectors are firing when you're cranking but when ECM don't receive feedback from crankshaft sensor, ECM will cut off power to fuel pump. If there was spark the fuel will burn and you have ignition. Do the spark test to confirm you have no spark.
3. If CEL is on, scan ECM for trouble code. If dtc code is P0335, replace your crankshaft sensor. And you might as well replace the camshft sensor as these two works in tandem. For these use Nissan parts only.
