Default knock sensor relocated

I am a professional mechanic and have personally relocated the knock sensor on my own '99 Frontier to an intake manifold bolt. It works fine and has caused no problems at all since I did it about a year (10,000 mi) ago. It still sends a good signal from the new location. As far as the dealership goes, they are 'fibbing' to you. It is a known problem, but they don't have to fix it for free. Get the sensor and harness for about $180 total, relocate it, and you won't have to worry about it for a long time. The new location is less harsh on the sensor. Even if you do have to replace it sometime in the future, it will take less than 5 minutes at the new location.
