My solution to P1126 was a new thermostat.
Just want to share my success to this code P1126 problem too. I have a 2001 Frontier with a 4 cylinder engine. My initial mistake was removing the upper hose housing. Note: that is the wrong housing. The thermostat housing is in the lower hose! You do not need to buy the $30 thermostat from the dealer unless money is no object. I used the Autozone Duralast thermostat #15397 and Fel-Pro gasket #35466 totaling < $16. No special tools needed, just a long extension for your socket and ratchet to remove the three bolts. Break the housing loose with a long narrow piece of wood by hammering from above.
